Multidimensional Single-Molecule Analysis Using MEMS and Plasmonic Cavities

Understanding single-molecule behavior at the nanoscale is crucial for advancing molecular electronics and chemical sensing. In this talk, we introduce a multidimensional analysis platform that integrates a MEMS-based break junction system with plasmonic cavities, enabling simultaneous electrical, optical, and mechanical characterization of single molecules. By precisely controlling electrode separation, we achieve reproducible molecular junctions and real-time measurements of charge transport and vibrational properties using enhanced Raman spectroscopy. The system reveals key correlations between molecular structure, conductance, and mechanical strain, providing new insights into single-molecule interactions. This approach paves the way for next-generation molecular-scale devices and high-precision nanoscale analysis techniques.
