Optics and microscopy are essential tools for exploring quantum materials. However, practical knowledge is hard to acquire outside of laboratory training. Therefore, this seminar aims to bridge that gap by introducing fundamental optical methods and the principles directly applied in the microscopy observation of various materials. Rather than focusing on a theoretical approach, this seminar emphasizes hands-on strategies, practical tips, and readily applicable tools. To enhance our understanding of optical setups and measurements, this seminar is expected to help listeners achieve more precise, optimized experimental outcomes. Finally, this seminar will briefly introduce two ongoing research directions. Enhancing lifetime in Super-resolution nanoscopy, and exploring ways to improve the readout fidelity of diamond NV centers. Both topics illustrate how optical techniques can directly advance quantum-level measurements.
