Designer interface of 2D layered materials

Abstract: Interface engineering of two-dimensional (2D) transition-metal dichalcogenides (TMDs) is increasingly recognized as a pivotal approach to enhance their inherent electrical and optoelectronic properties, thanks to their unique 2D structure and substantial surface-to-volume ratio.
In this talk, I will introduce recent studies that highlight the latest advancements in the interface engineering of TMDs using organic molecules and polymers, with a focus on the modulation of their electrical and optoelectronic characteristics [1]. I will explore diverse strategies for integrating organic interlayers, considering the interfaces between TMD surfaces and various elements such as dielectric and conductive contacts, as well as the ambient environment [2]. These innovative approaches aim to address traditional challenges in interface engineering and create designed interfaces with novel functionalities, offering a glimpse into the future of TMD technology [3]. Additionally, I will briefly introduce recent work on designing heterostructures and 2D layered matrix systems for large-area electronic applications, paving the way for advancements in future electronic technologies.
